Australia - Bondi Beach

from $24.00

This popular 1929 vintage poster was created by renowned Australian commercial artist Percival Albert (Percy) Trompf (1902–1964).

Commissioned by the Australian National Travel Association (ANTA), the poster, often called a “national treasure,” captures the lively beachgoers and bustling parking lot at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach. It was one of the first posters produced by ANTA, an organisation formed that same year to promote Australia as a travel destination to American and British audiences.

Born in Beaufort, Victoria, Trompf studied at Sebastopol State School and the Ballarat Technical Art School. He began his career in 1923 at a Melbourne design firm, creating chocolate box designs for A. W. Allen Pty Ltd. Later, from his studio on Little Collins Street, he produced thousands of advertising posters for prominent clients like Bryant & May (matches) and Palmolive (soaps).

Available as an artist print reproduction in 5 standard metric sizes.
